The De Fuca Downwind is the brainchild of paddler Gabe Newton’s research on the Strait’s most reliable Westerlies. The course starts at Freshwater Bay County Park, West of Port Angeles and crosses 9 gorgeous open miles, with Washington’s Olympic Mountains as a backdrop. Racers on surfskis and SUPs, in kayaks and outrigger canoes ride the tailwind all the way to Ediz Hook at the mouth of Port Angeles Harbor.

Through June 17th: $59 per person
Beginning June 18th: $79 per person

This is the 5th and final leg of the Race for Your Life points series, and it’s a tight race to the finish to see who walks away with the big prizes on both the men’s and women’s sides. Check the points totals here.

Big BBQ happens at Olympic Raft & Kayak on Saturday, the night before the race! Your race entry includes the meal, a post-race munchie buffet, plus a tee shirt.

Please note all fees are non-refundable. If you can’t make it to the race we will mail you your tee shirt or you can let us know to give it to a fellow racer. Or you’re welcome to send another racer in your place by contacting the race director in advance of race day.
